During the spring of 2015 I was invited to take part in the project The New Map by the curator Jenny Nordberg. For this project I wanted to combine my background as a clothing designer with my current jewellery design. But I also wanted to take a new step.
Inspired by the flow of fabric I decided to create a piece of jewellery for the home. In collaboration with Rosengrens Metallgjuteri I made a candlestick casted in bronze in the shape of a twisted torso. Flowing across rests an oversized metal cuff in brass or stainless steel.
I named the candlestick ALATA, meaning winged in latin. Both because it appears as if the candlestick has received wings but mostly because the cuff works as a decoration lifting it to a different level, becoming bejewelled.
